Pair Your Lipstick With Your Cocktail!

Lipstick is never just about color. It’s an experience. Multiple lip shades can be flattering and work perfectly with an outfit, but you know the right one when you put it on. And not because of color theory or fashion rules…you just know. It’s similar to how many of us choose what to drink at a given occasion. Oenophiles might fuss over wine type and year, and whisky enthusiasts over age and region, but many of us just like what we like, and often choose a tipple based on what we’re in the mood for. Since mood plays such a big part in our lipstick and drink selections, why not put them together? For summer, we created these seasonal pairings…

Bubbling Over

Few things say summer like a refreshing G&T, especially when made with light yet complex gins (like several Spanish sips and Argentina’s Príncipe de los Apóstoles) that work beautifully with almost any garnish that you can think of…from yerba mate tea to coriander, rosemary, mint, basil, and pink grapefruit. We used fresh oregano and dried herbs here for a bright, zesty gin tonic that is perfect for a beach getaway…and have just the lip trio to take with:

  • Sheer Lip Tint in Syrup: this beautiful basic has just a hint of color (a tinted balm, really) for a full day seaside.
  • Glitz Lipstick in Sweater Girl: Switch to this light, sparkling stunner — a happy “tonic” in lipstick form, really — when it’s time for sunset cocktails.
  • Subtle Shine Lipstick in Strawberry Fields: the perfect pop of pink for more festive occasions, that’s still fresh and summery.

Fiesta

We can’t imagine summer without a margarita! Mezcal or classic tequila, just make sure to choose freshly-squeezed lime over a pre-mix (it makes all the difference). We opted for rocks over frozen, and paired it with a trio of Lip Glosses as light-&-carefree, peppy, and joyous to match!

  • Lip Gloss in Slip: One of our most popular shades, this pale-pink, baby’s-breath-meets-cotton-candy hue creates a smile with each swipe.
  • Lip Glitter Gloss in Coquette Rosette: Rose adds elegance to this pretty, cheery pink.
  • Lip Gloss in Miami: This festive, beachy coral, infused with the energy of its eponymous city, comes out when you want to PLAY!

Summer Lovin’

A creamy, oaked chardonnay can be intimate and sophisticated, with flavors ranging from tropical fruit to coconut, grilled pineapple, cantaloupe, and vanilla. Summer, but more thoughtful…which we found reminiscent of the romance and blushing warmth of our Lip Glosses in…

  • Lip Gloss in Giggle: This versatile mauve-pink is spot-on for everything from a first date, to a gallery opening, or brunch with your besties.
  • Lip Gloss in Roses & Chocolate: As decadent as it sounds, choose this deep, earthy rose for more intimate occasions.
  • Lip Gloss in Tall & Tan: A luxurious, tawny cinnamon worthy of the jazzy bossa nova classic. Take this sumptuous bohemian to your next summer music festival!

Sparkling Personality

Why just rosé when you can sparkling rosé? We’re loving cava rosé or rosados like Vilarnau or Valformosa for their bright color and vibrant character. We picked Lip Glosses that weren’t shy…each as lively as these pink bubblies.

  • Lip Gloss in Smack…which is both what your lips will be doing with all this deliciousness, and the wow-factor of this stunning bright pink!
  • Lip Gloss in Sweet Stuff: Peachy keen, jelly bean! This warm, cheerful shade will make you want to skip all summer long (great cardio!)
  • Lip Gloss in Cabaret: So fierce, festive, and bold, the famous show tune could about this blue-based red.
